The Indianapolis Colts added depth to their roster by signing the QB they just released, Chad Kelly. He will be playing on the team's practice squad. The Colts settled on Brian Hoyer as the team's backup QB.

He was released by the team on Wednesday. However, not a team expressed their interest in acquiring the Ole Miss product. The team then made quick work to bring him back to the squad as a practice squad player.

Kelly has had an uneventful stint with the NFL so far. Kelly started his career with the Denver Broncos. He spent two years with the Broncos after being selected in the seventh round of the 2017 Draft. He spent his rookie season on the sidelines due to injuries sustained in college.

Josh Alper revealed additional details about Kelly that may have influenced their decision to cut him:

Kelly was suspended after pleading guilty to criminal trespassing charges earlier this year. He was arrested after entering a stranger’s house after leaving then-teammate Von Miller‘s Halloween party, sitting on their couch and refusing to leave. The Broncos released him a short time later.

Kelly had a good college career. He started his career with Clemson but was barely able to play snaps with the team before moving to East Mississipi Community College for JuCo football. He returned to Ole Miss where passed for 6800 yards and 50 touchdowns.
