The Indianapolis Colts have in the front seven so they are working out former-first round pick Marcus Smith, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Defensive end Kemoko Turay was lost for the season because of a broken ankle, so the team needs to bring in reinforcements to add some depth.

This isn't the first time that the team has brought in Smith for a workout, so it's clear the team has seen something they have liked. The team also brought him in during December of 2018, but there was never an agreement agreed to.

Smith was taken in the first round by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2014 draft, but hasn't lived up to the expectations that come with being such a high draft pick. He spent three seasons with the Eagles before being released before the 2017 season. In 2018, he played two games with the Washington Redskins, but hasn't found a spot since then.

Whoever does come in to replace Turay is going to have their hands full, because he was really coming into his own before going down with the injury. Justin Houston had been a big help since coming over from the Chiefs and he gave him a lot of credit for learning how to study the opponent.

“One of the best things [Houston] said to me is that I have to learn to be a pass-rusher on both sides, the left and the right. Keep studying,” Turay said last week via ESPN. “Study the opponent. Put it on film that you play both sides and then you're giving O-linemen more to study instead of just one thing to study. You're playing chess with them.”

The Colts currently sit with a 3-2 record and are tied for first place in the AFC South.
