Gilchrist would be a solid veteran for the Colts that would provide some depth. Last season, he started every game for the Oakland Raiders and did a good job, picking off three passes. He had a workout with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers in August, but that didn't result in a contract and he hasn't found any work since then.
Hooker suffered the knee injury in the teams Week 3 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He was able to return to the game after initially being checked out, but after the game felt more discomfort.

While Hooker is out, the Colts will rely heavily on rookie Khari Willis, who already has 12 tackles so far this season. He has been playing a good amount of snaps already this year, but now being the starter will put a lot more pressure on him. Reich thinks the fourth-round pick is ready for the challenge and will thrive.
“Khari’s been getting plenty of play time, but now with Malik being out for a little bit, Khari, obviously, his role is going to significantly increase,” Reich said. “And every indication we have from Khari is this guy, he’s a ballplayer, and he’s ready for this opportunity.”
