After having an impressive campaign in 2018, the Indianapolis Colts have high expectations in 2019. Jim Irsay realizes just how special this current roster is and can be.

When talking about this year's team, Jim Irsay compared the 2019 team to the Peyton Manning teams. That is some high praise from a team who had question marks surrounding Andrew Luck last offseason.

“This team is one of the best teams that I’ve had the privilege to bring to our fans,” Irsay said on Saturday during the Colts’ camp practice at Grand Park. “It honestly matches some of those days of Peyton, Edgerrin, Reggie, all of those guys.”

Irsay is giddy with excitement when speaking about this team, but when Peyton Manning's name is mentioned with the Colts, people listen. Manning helped the Colts win a Super Bowl in 2006 and made Indianapolis a football city again during his 13 seasons with the Colts.

Last season, the Colts hired Frank Reich as the new head coach, moving on from Chuck Pagano. Along with the change at head coach, Indianapolis was also awaiting the return of Luck as he was returning from a shoulder injury that caused him to miss the entire 2017 season.

Fortunately, the Colts prioritized protecting Luck by drafting Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith in the 2018 NFL Draft. As a result of their new-look offensive line, the Colts allowed just 18 sacks (best in NFL).

Along with that, Luck won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year Award after throwing for 4,593 yards and 39 touchdowns. Luck also helped lead the Colts into the AFC Divisional Round where they would lose to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite the loss, there seemed to be a new feeling surrounding this new Colts team. The media sees it, the fans see it, and above all, Irsay sees something special in this team.
