Matt Ryan has begun his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts. After going through the Carson Wentz experience, Indianapolis looked to give Frank Reich a better veteran to try to get the Colts back into the playoffs.

Even before a game has been played, Ryan already looks like an upgrade over Wentz. His presence in practice has been great, according to Reich. He told Mike Wells of ESPN that Ryan's humility and professionalism as a reason why he has been so amazing so early in his tenure with the Colts.

“I cannot even tell you how refreshing he is. [He has a] very strong opinion, but also very engaging, but very humble, like very humble,” Colts coach Frank Reich said. “Very humble but very strong. It’s just good. It’s a really good dynamic, very professional in every way. It’s just a collaboration, but he also understands he’s coming in and learning a new offense, and he feels that right now, he feels it.”

Wentz overstayed his welcome with the Colts after one season because of his lack of leadership. His unreliable style of play was a key reason why they narrowly missed the playoffs. Indianapolis had other issues but having a quarterback with such ugly moments hindered them severely.

Ryan, even at 36 years old, should be an upgrade over Wentz, who was traded to the Washington Commanders. The Colts can rely on Jonathan Taylor and their strong defense while Ryan runs the offense.
