The Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins have both worked out free-agent safety Matt Elam, with the Colts doing it as recently as Monday, according to Ben Volin of The Boston Globe.
Elam has not played in the NFL since 2016, when he played in nine games with the Baltimore Ravens and logged one tackle.
The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was originally selected by the Ravens in the first round (32nd pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
He appeared in all 16 contests during his rookie campaign, finishing with 77 tackles, an interception and a couple of fumble recoveries. Then, the following year, Elam once again participated in every game and totaled 52 tackles, a forced fumble and four passes defended.
Elam would then go on to miss all of 2015 due to a torn biceps, and after barely playing in 2016, the Ravens opted not to pick up the option on the final year of his rookie contract.

Charges in both incidents were dropped.
The Colts won 10 games this past season, making the playoffs in spite of a 1-5 start and then going on to upset the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round a week later.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins won just seven games.
