The Jacksonville Jaguars have released offensive lineman Jermey Parnell, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Parnell was due to make $6 million next season, so this move clears more cap space for the Jaguars.

Parnell started 13 games for the Jaguars this past season and has been a mainstay along the team's offensive line since first arriving in 2015.

The 32-year-old, who played collegiate football at the University of Mississippi, went undrafted but landed with the New Orleans Saints in 2009.

Parnell first came into the NFL as a defensive end. While he was on the Saints' practice squad, he also played defensive tackle, tight end, and offensive lineman.

After bouncing back and forth between the Saints and the Miami Dolphins over his first two seasons, Parnell joined the Dallas Cowboys in October of 2010. By the following season, he was playing in NFL games, making six appearances for the Cowboys as an offensive tackle.

He served as a reliable reserve offensive lineman for the Cowboys through 2014, making seven starts during his tenure with Dallas.

Then, in March 2015, he signed with the Jaguars and was immediately inserted as the starting right tackle.

The Jaguars are coming off a season in which they won just five games, one year after nailing down an AFC South Division title and making the AFC Championship Game.

Parnell is just the latest victim in Jacksonsville's round of Friday cuts. The team also parted with Malik Jackson, Carlos Hyde, and Tashaun Gipson.
