Antonio Brown has been rumored to be facing a suspension from the Oakland Raiders after getting into a heated exchange with general manager Mike Mayock. Now, it appears that things could be changing following an “emotional apology” that he made to the team on Friday morning.

According to a report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Brown may not only avoid a suspension, but there is a “real chance” that he ends up playing in the Raiders' Week 1 matchup with the Broncos on Monday night.

This is definitely a sudden development, as Rapoport notes that Oakland head coach Jon Gruden told people on Thursday that Brown was not in his plans for Monday.

Angry over a $54,000 fine that the Raiders levied against him for missing some time during training camp, Brown confronted Raiders general manager Mike Mayock in practice on Wednesday.

The dispute instantly got heated to the point where Oakland linebacker Vontaze Burfict had to restrain Brown, who was apparently threatening to physically assault Brown.

Following the incident, it was reported that the Raiders planned on suspending the wide receiver, and many were even speculating that Oakland could void the $30.125 million in guaranteed money that Brown was due.

But Brown reportedly made an emotional apology to his team on Friday, which may have swung things back in his favor.

The Raiders acquired Brown in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in March, sending a third-round draft pick and a fifth-rounder to the Steelers in exchange for his services.

Brown spent the first nine seasons of his NFL career in Pittsburgh, making seven Pro Bowl appearances.

However, due to a string of off-the-field incidents, the 31-year-old eventually wore out his welcome with the Steelers, leading to the two sides deciding to part ways after the 2018 campaign.
