Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr knows there will be tons of adjustments for them as new head coach Josh McDaniels takes over the team. However, it is clear he's excited to learn from a winning coach.
Plus, it appears Carr is already loving the fact that McDaniels likes to play fast.
“It’s going to take a lot of work for our guys to learn it. And we’ve already started that process, but usually with the teams that have the most success like he has had the last 20 years or so, there’s usually a good amount of volume there. But at the same time, he’s all about playing fast,” Carr said, per Pro Football Talk.
“And so, I’m excited. I really am excited. Obviously, it’s different. But the same amount of work is going to be required to get it done.”
This is certainly what Josh McDaniels wants to hear. The 45-year-old tactician spent the better part of the last 20 years handling the offensive coordinator duties of the New England Patriots–one that has brought him six Super Bowl rings in the process–so he is naturally used to winning and having that culture and mindset.
Derek Carr's commitment to him and his system will be crucial for them to succeed together. McDaniels has worked his magic with Tom Brady, and hopes are high he can do the same for Carr and the Raiders.
The 31-year-old QB just recently signed a three-year, $121.5 million deal to stay with the Raiders, and so he'll be working for a long time with McDaniels. Fortunately, the partnership seems to be off to a great start.
