The drama surrounding Antonio Brown and the Oakland Raiders continues to swirl, with the team announcing on Friday that Brown will play in their season-opener on Monday Night Football. During Friday’s episode of FOX Sports' The Herd with Colin Cowherd, former NFL wide receiver Greg Jennings spoke about the drama, and sent a message to Brown in the process.

Jennings' message to Brown was fairly simple, and consisted of him telling Brown to be true to himself.

“Be true to who you are… You are a father, friend and role model. Be that example that we know you can be,” Jennings said.

According to Jennings, Brown should stop trying to make things about his brand or himself, and instead just assess himself as someone who has fallen short.

Things between Brown and the Raiders came to a tipping point earlier this week, when Brown received a fine for missing a large portion of training camp, as well as a walkthrough prior to the team’s third preseason game. Brown posted the fine on Instagram, voicing his displeasure with the situation and the fine in general.

Afterwards, a dispute between Brown and Raiders general manager Mike Mayock occurred, after which rumors began to surface that Brown would be suspended by the team. Ultimately, Brown ended up apologizing to the team, and looks to be ready to play on Monday night after all.

For now, things have cooled, and if Brown is able to put this offseason behind him and focus on football, he can endear himself to the Raiders thanks to his skill on the field. If not, however, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the Raiders continue to try and discipline their star receiver, regardless of how good he is.
