While he answered questions, Gruden did say “down deep, I think Antonio is a great guy”. That statement is pretty telling with how Gruden feels about how the receiver has handled everything this offseason.
The latest incident arose when the team fined Brown for missing practices throughout his helmet dispute with the NFL. As a result, the All-Pro receiver posted the fine on Instagram and voiced his displeasure towards the team for doing so.
After seeing the social media post, Mike Mayock spoke to Brown about the entire situation; but the wideout didn't take it lightly. Brown and Mayock got into a shouting match and ended up having to be separated by teammates.
According to Ian Rapoport, the dramatic receiver told Mayock that he'd ‘punch him in the face‘ and proceeded to punt a football. Due to the way Brown handled the discussion, the team is now considering a suspension for their talented wideout.
If Brown is in fact suspended, the 31-year-old receiver would be forfeiting $30 million in guaranteed money back to the organization. Therefore, it's safe to say Brown's time in Oakland would be nearing an end if he is suspended.
The Raiders surrendered two mid-round picks for Brown and understood they were getting a receiver who brings some luggage with him.
It's doubtful they expected it to go downhill this rapidly.
