The Oakland Raiders have had a pretty disappointing season but according to coach Jon Gruden that isn't stopping players from calling him and telling him how much they want to play for him.

“I got a cell phone just like you and everybody else, and I get a lot of phone calls from people who are dying to come and play here,” Gruden said in an interview with FOX. “I'm just telling you, to have salary cap space, to have a chance to talk to the people that you really want to wear the silver and black and represent this team, that's exciting.”

Gruden is a big talker and it's hard to know if what he is saying is true, but a comment like this is a bit hard to believe. The Raiders are 1-6 and statistically have one of the worst offenses and defenses in the league. He is trading away player after player and is doing a complete overhaul of the roster.

The good news for the Raiders is they are loaded with draft capital because of the trades that have been completed. Now the big question for Gruden and the Raiders is will they be able to draft the right guys?

If they can have a few good drafts and there are a ton of players calling “dying” to play for the Raiders maybe in a few years this team can compete. If they can't though this could be a long next ten years for the fans of this team.
