The first game as head coach for Jon Gruden in his second stint with the Oakland Raiders didn't go as planned and a big reason for that was the lack of pass rush.

After having an excellent start to the game, the Los Angeles Rams made gameplan adjustments during halftime, and it caused the Raiders not to be able to get any pressure on quarterback Jared Goff. Coach Gruden was not happy after the game and said he would take a good look at the faulty pass rush.

“When you can run the ball like they ran in the second half, it's very hard to rush the passer,” Gruden said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “Obviously, we didn't get to Goff enough, and we didn't get to Gurley enough. We'll take a good look at the reasons why we didn't.”

Maybe when Gruden takes a look at the film, he will realize that he is missing one key piece of the defensive line, Khalil Mack. Perhaps Gruden can get on the phone and offer two first-round picks to the Chicago Bears in hopes that they can get Mack back as if there's any chance of that happening.

Otherwise, it might just be a waiting game for the Raiders in terms of the defensive line. They can use the two first-round draft picks on the defensive line but that doesn't help them now, something Mack would be able to do if they would have paid him the extension money. The Raiders will get their next chance to show an improved defensive line when they take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
