The Oakland Raiders continue to tinker with their depth at running back. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the team tried out free agent tailback Spencer Ware on Friday along with defensive linemen Willie Henry and Caruen Reid.

Ware, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs, signed with the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason. The team placed him on the PUP list on Aug. 2, then was released off of the injured reserve on Sept. 20. Following his release — which he received an injury settlement from — he worked out with the Arizona Cardinals but was not signed.

When the Colts released Ware, he took to Twitter to say he is not done. Working out with the Raiders is a continuation of that notion.

Said Ware: “I am NOT done for season! When things happen you have to adjust and treat accordingly. I'm going to play THIS YEAR, so there are things that need to be done before that happens that'll put me in the best case scenario. MINOR, MINOR, MINOR setback because of timing.”

Ware was a standout for the Chiefs in his three seasons in Kansas City. In 2016, he logged a career year, as he tallied 247 touches for 1,368 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games in a feature-back role. For his career, he has 396 touches for 2,246 yards and 13 touchdowns. His talent on the field has never been at question, rather, his ability to stay healthy has.

The Raiders currently have Josh Jacobs, Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington at the position.
