The Oakland Raiders are out of the gate to the season on another discouraging start dropping five out of their first games played that has put them in the cellar of the AFC West standings.

This has pushed the Raiders have now reportedly possibly considering moving the former Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper in exchange for a first-round draft pick, according to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network. (h/t Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com)

“The Raiders have had some conversations about potentially trading him,” Rapoport reported on The Aftermath Live. “My understanding is that they have asked for a first-round pick in exchange for Amari Cooper, which seems incredibly significant. And it might make it difficult if not impossible to trade him.”

Oakland has been pushed into the position with the thought creeping into looking to gather more draft assets to help build for the future. Cooper is currently in the fourth year of his rookie deal that has had the fifth-year, $13.9 million option for the 2019 season. There has yet to be any talk about an extension being worked out between both sides over the last few months that hasn't picked up any stem.

Cooper has continued to struggle to produce any consistency notching 22 receptions for 280 receiving yards and a touchdown in the first six games played this season. He has notched two 100 receiving yard performances this season but has been a complete non-factor in the other four games played recording no greater than two catches and 17 receiving yards in any contest. All of this has come to a head in Sunday's 27-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks failing to haul in his only target.

Head coach Jon Gruden has already come out to state the team isn't looking to move on from Cooper, but if these struggles continue it could shift things toward making a more concerted effort in the trade market.
