The Oakland Raiders have their head coach their new head coach place for the long-term future with Jon Gruden agreeing to a 10-year deal with the team. Whether he gets to 10 years or even close remains to be seen.

With Gruden having inked a long-term deal worth $100 million, the pressure is on to produce results in Oakland and then in Las Vegas following the next two seasons. Although Gruden has a Super Bowl title to his credit and was successful during his first stint with the Raiders, he hasn't coached in nearly a decade and there's no telling whether he'll be able to adapt to the modern era of coaching in the NFL.

Regardless of whether he can adapt or not, it's a results-driven league and Gruden will be expected to turn this franchise back into a force to be reckoned with in the AFC. There's no doubting he has the talent to do it with stars like Khalil Mack and Derek Carr leading the way, but how long it'll take is up for debate.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith recently chimed in on the subject and gave what he thinks is a reasonable timeline for Gruden to win a Super Bowl with the Raiders.

With the Raiders having the talent to compete right away given the right guidance, there's a chance that Gruden may actually turn this time into a Super Bowl title contender in the very near future. There's bound to be some growing pains and the team's success will likely lean heavily on how Carr can play under Gruden, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility that this team is competing for Super Bowls in three or four years.

Obviously, only time will tell whether Gruden still has what it takes to be a successful coach in this league and if Carr buys in, but there's definitely a reason for optimism in Oakland as a new era gets underway for the silver and black.
