The Los Angeles Rams were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night in heartbreaking fashion as they were eliminated from making the playoffs. Following the loss, Jared Goff shared his dissatisfaction with how the 2019 season has ended.
“It's extremely disappointing,” Rams quarterback Jared Goff said after the game per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN. “You never envision something like this when you start the year. It's not even close to the standard that we want to hold. It's sickening.”
With the loss, Los Angeles has fallen to 8-7 on the season and has become the second team since 2009 to miss the playoffs after making the Super Bowl the previous season. The last team to suffer the same fate was the Carolina Panthers in 2015.
Since Sean McVay became the head coach in 2017, the Rams were able to be crowned NFC West champions twice. This will be the first year in the McVay era that Los Angeles will be sitting at home in January.

Following the Rams' embarrassing performance in last year's Super Bowl, the players were expecting to be back in the playoffs to avenge the loss in 2019. But if this year showed anything, it's that nothing is guaranteed in the NFL and things can change quickly in just one year.
Nevertheless, the Rams will have an entire offseason to fix the issues that arose in 2019. Without a doubt, Los Angeles will be a vastly different team in 2020 when they begin playing at SoFi Stadium.
