Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is dealing with a stiff thumb but he says he will be good to go for Saturday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.
“I'll be good in a day or two,” Goff said via ESPN.com.
This is good news for the Rams who are in a must-win situation Saturday if they want any chance to make the playoffs. The Rams need to win their last two games, and they need the Vikings to lose their last two games to pick up the last wild card spot.
Goff injured his thumb late in the first half of their blowout loss against the Dallas Cowboys but was able to finish the game. He actually played okay against the Cowboys but the Rams defense couldn't slow Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. Rams coach Sean McVay said he didn't expect Goff to have any limitations.
“He'll be able to do everything,” McVay said. “Fortunately, it's like one of those deals where you get it banged and it's like anything else — probably scares you more than anything at first because it is such an irritating thing when you're trying to grip the ball.”
The first time these two teams faced off earlier this season Goff was terrible. He finished 13 for 24 for 78 yards and zero touchdowns. The Rams are going to need more production out of Goff in this game if they want any chance to come away with a win.
The Rams and 49ers face off on Saturday night football at Levi's Stadium.
