Los Angeles Rams linebacker Micah Kiser is going to underdog pectoral surgery after suffering an injury Saturday night according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN. There is currently no timetable for how long he might be held out with the injury.
Kiser was projected to be the starting inside linebacker this season for the Rams, so this is a big loss for a defense that already has question marks.
It's expected Bryce Hager will move into the fill the role and coach Sean McVay thinks there won't be much dropoff with him on the field.
Article Continues Below“He's capable of being a starting player in this league,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “He's definitely demonstrated that when given the opportunity, he's capitalized on those chances.”
Most of the starters haven't played this preseason but because Kiser is still young the team opted to try and get him more time on the field. McVay said ‘ts an unfortunate situation and it doesn't matter to see how much you try to avoid it, injuries still happen.
“The reason that we thought it was important for those guys to play is because they are still younger guys that haven't had the accumulation of work,” McVay said. “Unfortunately, whether it is in preseason games or regular season, even in practice, sometimes these injuries are inevitable and you can't always avoid it.”
Hopefully, Kiser will have a successful surgery. make a full recovery, and can be back on the field helping the Rams win games in a timely fashion.
