The Los Angeles Rams are off to a strong start to the 2018 season sweeping through the first month pushing toward being one of the two undefeated teams left in the NFL alongside the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lost a bit in the shuffle has been the team's play up front along the defensive line that has been able to create consistent problems for opposing teams. In fact, Los Angeles is currently top of the league in the percent of pressures per dropbacks in the first four games played, according to Chris Trapasso of Buffalo News. Particularly impressive is the Rams’ pass rush, which is putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks more frequently than any other defense in the NFL. According to Chris Trapasso of the Buffalo News, using data compiled by Pro Football Focus, the Rams’ defense has faced 157 dropbacks and pressured the quarterback on 65 of those dropbacks. That’s a pressure rate of 41.4 percent, the best in the NFL.

The Rams haven't had the statistical data in terms of sacks — they're tied for 22nd with eight — that would stand out, but the presence of their formidable threesome with Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, and Michael Brockers has created consistent havoc for opposing quarterbacks.

This has seen Donald and Suh become a more effective duo as the season has rolled along with the two getting a better feel of playing next to each other.

What should also be noted is that teams are taking the approach of getting the ball out sooner in order to avoid their trio from getting to the quarterback. This has put more pressure on their secondary, but at the same time, it shows how much of a factor their defensive front has quickly become together.

If the Rams hope to continue this upward trend toward possibly being a serious threat to contend for the Super Bowl, their defensive line will play a key part in those aspirations coming to fruition.
