In what has been an up-and-down debut campaign for quarterback Matthew Stafford with the Los Angeles Rams, he reached one notable feat in the regular season finale against the San Francisco 49ers.
Stafford entered the Rams’ clash against the 49ers with 38 passing touchdowns on the season. He has built up notable chemistry with the likes of wideouts Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr.
Stafford reached 40 passing touchdowns over the second quarter of the contest, as he connected with tight end Tyler Higbee for a pivotal 15-yard score.
With this crucial throw, Stafford became just the third player in NFL history to record at least 40 passing touchdowns in a season with multiple teams, joining Tom Brady (New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos).

Stafford also tallied for 40-plus touchdowns in his third season with the Detroit Lions, as he found grand success in connecting with Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson in the 2011 campaign. Brady has recorded at least 40 touchdown passes in three different seasons, which include his opening two campaigns in Tampa Bay. On the other hand, Manning reached this feat twice (2004, 2013).
In the big picture, the Rams came away with a defeat against the 49ers in Week 18, as a late interception thrown by Stafford in overtime ended their aspirations of a 13-win campaign. At the least, the Rams locked up the NFC West thanks to the Seattle Seahawks' road win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Stafford sure will now look to lead the Rams to a possible playoff win against the Cardinals next week.
