The adjustment period for Watkins has been a smooth process that he revealed on Monday that rookie wideout Cooper Kupp has played a large part in getting him more comfortable with head coach Sean McVay's offense, according to Therams.com.
The fact that a rookie has been helping Watkins along in getting better acquainted with the offensive system only speaks to the development of Kupp. He has been able to quickly learn the ins and out of an NFL playbook prior to his first season that could be a big factor in helping put forth a strong rookie campaign.
He has had a strong showing through the first two games of the preseason hauling in eight catches on 10 targets for 105 receiving yards with a touchdown. This includes a productive performance against the Oakland Raiders last Saturday where he made seven catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Watkins is expected to take up a prominent role in the offense as the top receiving threat for second-year quarterback Jared Goff. The Rams will likely use the final two preseason games to further integrate the 24-year-old into the offense before the season opener on Sept. 10 against the Indianapolis Colts.
