With the Los Angeles Rams' surprising amount of success under first-year head coach Sean McVay, the team continues to add on to their already-talented roster. They signed former Miami Dolphins star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a one-year, $14 million contract on Monday afternoon.
The Rams now have one of the league's most star-studded rosters, with Suh joining reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald, as well as newly-acquired star cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib in the secondary.
As for Suh and Donald, it was reported by Rams beat reporter Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times that Coach McVay said Suh will play nose tackle while Donald stays at the three-technique spot.
“Ndamukong and Aaron both have talked among each other as this thing was going on,” McVay said. “The mutual respect that exists between those two players was imperative and really paramount to even pursue this in the first place.”
According to an article written by Mike Jones of USA TODAY Sports, coach McVay is confident that the presence of Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will work great with these new faces on defense.
“I think they understand the way we want to operate organizationally, and this is a place that they wanted to be, and we’re excited about adding players of that caliber. And it’s going to be fun to play, and I’m sure the defensive coordinator has more swag than any of them, so I think we’ll be OK,” McVay said.
The Rams will officially report in mid-April for offseason team workouts.
