The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI, but one player made out better than the rest. Along with winning the biggest game of his life, Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson welcomed his second son into the world.
Unfortunately, Jefferson was unable to see the birth of his son in person due to the immense traffic following the big game. He shared the story with Adam Schefter on the NFL insider's podcast. Schefter tweeted the clip Tuesday morning.
Rams’ WR @VanJefferson12 was stuck in LA and Super Bowl traffic and had to watch his wife Samaria give birth to their son, Champ, on FaceTime.

“We were literally stuck in traffic, so like, I had to watch the birth of my son on FaceTime,” the Super Bowl champion said.
Originally, the Rams star got a FaceTime call from an unrecognized number while he was en route to the birthing center. He answered it and said he saw a “lady laying in a bed” and immediately hung up. They called again, and Jefferson realized that the “lady laying in the bed” was actually his wife going into labor.
According to Jefferson, his wife was giving birth to his son at a birthing center in Thousand Oaks, approximately 45 minutes away from SoFi Stadium without traffic. He said it took him and his kids an hour and a half to get there, about a half an hour after Champ was born.
