Previous rumors have indicated that the Los Angeles Rams may look to move on from quarterback Jared Goff. According to The Athletic, the Rams have already begun exploring trade talks with different teams on a deal involving the 26-year old. The rumors are definitely heating up, especially after general manager Les Snead did not give a definite answer on Goff's future in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Rams are in exploratory talks with multiple teams on trades involving quarterback Jared Goff and bringing in another quarterback, a source told The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue on Friday.
On Tuesday, Rams general manager Les Snead was noncommittal about Goff’s future in Los Angeles, saying “Jared Goff is a Ram at this moment. It’s way too early to speculate (on) the future. That’s a beautiful mystery.”
After the Rams bowed out of the playoffs following their loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round, LA head coach Sean McVay immediately shot down speculations that the team may be moving on from Goff as their quarterback. However, nearly two weeks later, it seems like the direction of the wind has changed for Los Angeles.
Goff has made two Pro-Bowls with the Rams and has put up solid numbers in the regular season. However, history suggests that his game has fallen off during the postseason.
It still isn't clear whether the Rams will stay in-house in terms of their search of a quarterback by making John Wolford, who made two starts this past 2020 season, their full-time starter or look elsewhere for an upgrade. Trading Goff, however, wouldn't be such an easy task given his pretty massive contract.
