Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton is expected to have his sixth surgery according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, and the hope is that he will be out of the hospital next week. According to Rapoport, this surgery will close the wounds and is expected to be his final surgery.

Norton was hurt the morning of July 4th when his Ford F-250 truck sideswiped a Maserati which caused him to hit a concrete barrier and flip over. He was found to be at fault for the accident and was ticketed for the incident. The crash caused him to need his arm to be amputated at the scene.

In an exclusive interview with CBS4’s Peter D’Oench Norton, said he knew his NFL career was over, but he was staying strong because he was still alive.

“I am alive,” he said. “To be here, I am alive. One thing keeps me going and that is that I am still able to be here. Seeing my family is so important. It is very good that I have this support system. It keeps me strong and it keeps me tall.”

“But I realize that I will not be able to play for anyone,” he added. “We are working past that you know. That reality is sinking in. I am alive and I am grateful. Now I want to organize a blood drive.”

Incredibly, the Dolphins defensive player has kept such a positive attitude from the situation, and it's great to hear that he should be going home soon.
