As Miami Dolphins fans get ready for a new era with a new starting quarterback under center, they're starting to gain insights as to how that might look.
DeVonta Smith had the opportunity to play with three great quarterbacks for the Alabama Crimson Tide: Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts, and Mac Jones. The wide receiver went of Fox Sports this week and discussed the key differences his former and present quarterbacks.
Smith, a projected first round pick in next year's draft, noted that the three QBs all had varying approaches to the game. The 21-year old stud said Tagavailoa, now a rising star for the Miami Dolphins, sees the play as it develops. Meanwhile Hurts, now with the Philadelphia Eagles, waits for a play to conclude before communicating the necessary adjustments to his teammates. Finally, he said that his current quarterback, Mac Jones, is more of the stick to the game plan kind of guy.
“I would say just the way some of them approach the game,” Smith said this week. “Tua will see something mid play. Like motioning somebody. Mac is more of a “We're going to stick to it and if this happens, we're going to check to what it's supposed to be.” Jalen was just a student of the game. He would wait until the next play and tell us, because when it came back, we'd be ready for it.”

After a stellar three-year stint in Alabama, Tagovailoa was drafted no. 5 overall by the Dolphins. Meanwhile, Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma in his senior year after losing his starting spot to Tagovailoa in 2018. The Eagles then drafted him in the second round after finishing his college career.
Meanwhile, Mac Jones is making a lot of noise with his stellar play as of late. He notched his third straight 400-plus yard game, which is in large part to Smith's incredible game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
