As expected, the Miami Dolphins may finally be making a change at quarterback, and while some view them as a potential landing spot for Joe Flacco or Nick Foles, they might also just draft a signal-caller this spring.
“We haven’t gone through the process of getting to learn the guys yet,” said new Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald. “There are a lot of good prospects we spent some time with at the Senior Bowl [such as Duke’s Daniel Jones, Missouri’s Drew Lock and West Virginia’s Will Grier] and other quarterbacks that weren’t there that people were talking about as well. We may get through the process and fall in love with a couple guys. Last year, we liked two guys a lot and they both had good success this year. [Those were believed to be Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen.] It could be that point where we may say, “Hey, we feel this is the guy.’”
One thing is for sure: it appears that the Ryan Tannehill era is finally up in Miami.
Article Continues BelowTannehill, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M University, was originally selected by the Dolphins with the eighth overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.
He started for Miami right out of the gate, throwing for 3,294 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions during his rookie campaign.
While he certainly improved going forward, Tannehill never developed into the franchise quarterback that the Dolphins had hoped for, and in 2018, Tannehill played in just 11 games and finished with 1,979 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine picks.
