Tua Tagovailoa has made his NFL debut for the Miami Dolphins, albeit in garbage time in a decisive win over the New York Jets.

Coming into the game to replace Ryan Fitzpatrick with 2:27 left to go in the game, Tua Tagovailoa inherited a 24-0 lead and was out there simply to run out the clock.

Tua Tagovailoa would proceed to hand the ball off on his first play to get it to the two-minute warning. Following the two-minute warning, he would complete two passes for nine yards. While nothing to write home about, his small performance will give Dolphin fans something to look forward to– an appetizer of what's to come in the future for the first round draft pick.

Tua Tagovailoa was drafted by the Dolphins with the fifth overall pick in this year's draft. The former national champion is coming back from a hip injury that ended his college career early. His status this season has been one that has been up in the air, with Fitzpatrick being the starter all season thus far.

It is unknown whether Tua Tagovailoa will start at any point this season. Second year head coach Brian Flores has kept his plans on Tagovailoa close to the vest throughout the preseason and regular season.

With how poorly the team has played, and the turmoil around the franchise, it may happen.
