Miami Dolphins left tackle Austin Jackson has managed to fit the billing as the 18th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by emerging as a starter in training camp. It seems he is sparing no expense to make sure that his fellow offensive linemen are ready to get the 2020 season started on the right foot.

Jackson developed a pregame tradition during his days at USC that featured ice cream as a focal point of his diet the night before games. According to Ruthie Polinsky of NBC 6, he plans on keeping it going ahead of Miami's showdown with the New England Patriots in Week 1:

Jackson intends to bring others into his tradition by throwing an ice cream party for his fellow offensive linemen. It is safe to say that this may call for several gallons given the stature and appetite of this particular group.

It is certainly encouraging to see that Jackson is making efforts to maintain a level of familiarity ahead of his NFL debut. The fact that he is now planning on sharing it with fellow teammates is also a positive sign of his influence in the locker room.

After all, Jackson is expected to become a franchise cornerstone following his arrival as a first-round pick. He will be tasked with protecting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and eventually quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as well. This means Dolphins will need him to find his footing as quickly as possible in order to ensure he is the right man for the job.

Fortunately, there seems to be good reason to be optimistic about Jackson's potential and the results his ice cream diet has yielded up to this point.
