The Las Vegas Raiders recently acquired a new player by trading assets with another rebuilding team. The Miami Dolphins have traded linebacker Raekwon McMillan and a 2021 fifth-round draft pick to the Raiders for a 2021 fourth-round draft pick. The acquisition of McMillan gives the Raiders a much-needed depth in their defensive rotation.

The former Ohio State Buckeye was selected by the Dolphins with the 54th pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. An ACL and hamstring injury eventually dampened his development and limited his productivity for the team. He went on to tally 177 total tackles, two forced fumbles, and two pass deflections through three seasons with the Dolphins.

A tighter competition eventually started to brew in the team's linebacker rotations with the arrival of two-time Super Bowl champion Elandon Roberts and fifth-year player Kamu Grugier-Hill. Former New England Patriot Kyle Van Noy and former Canadian Football League player Samuel Eguavoen are also in the running for a bigger role as well.

The stacked roster saw McMillan fall down the team's depth chart and had a decreased role with the team during training camp. He was also on the verge of being cut by the Dolphins prior to the trade. His relocation to the Raiders' camp will give his career a much-needed change in scenery. He will aim to work his way in his new team's defensive rotation and exceed his level of productivity during his days in Miami.

McMillan remains to be a serviceable player and the following weeks will see the role that he will ultimately play in the Raiders rebuilding efforts.
