The Minnesota Vikings took care of a lot of needs so far this offseason and 2020 NFL Draft, but there are still some areas that still need to be worked on.

The Vikings knew heading into the draft one big area of concern was wide receiver after trading away Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. The Vikings selected Justin Jefferson with their first-round draft pick with the hope that he can replace some of the production lost with Diggs no longer on the squad. The Vikings also improved the offensive line by selecting Ezra Cleveland in the second round.

Even with all the upgrades, there is still one area that really could be improved: Cornerback. Let's break down what the team already has on the roster, and how they might be able to improve before the start of the 2020 season.

What do the Vikings already have?

The Vikings lost Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander this offseason, and because of that their depth is lacking. Mike Hughes is a former first-round pick and will be expected to be the top cornerback on the team this year. Holton Hill has also shown flashes of being a starting cornerback in the NFL, but multiple failed drug tests have put some doubt if he can stay on the field. Kris Boyd was a rookie during the 2019 season,

The Vikings also drafted Jeff Gladney with their second first-round draft pick. There is also going to be a pressure on him to come in a perform right away.

The cornerbacks room for the Vikings looks to be building something strong for the future with the young talent they have, but this is still a team that has dreams of competing for a Super Bowl this upcoming year. To make that happen, they need to make a move to get a cornerback.

Who should the Vikings target?

There are still free agents the Vikings could target, although the picking have become a little slim. The Vikings know Prince Amukamara well from his time with the Bears. Although he might have lost a step he would be great for the cornerbacks room, and could be a rotational player.

Another player that could make sense is Darqueze Denard. Denard has dealt with a lot of injuries during his career but played well for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019 out of the slot.

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Desmond King has also been mentioned in trade rumors. If the Vikings want to give up the capital they could trade for King, who could prove be a game changer for the defense.
