Battling a hamstring injury, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen missed practice completely on Wednesday, per the team's official injury report. The ailment could sideline him for Sunday's much-anticipated matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, it is unlikely that he will play.
Thielen previously missed Week 8's Thursday win over the Washington Redskins. He injured his hamstring on a toe-tap 25-yard touchdown reception against the Detroit Lions.
Thielen played against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday, despite being limited in the practices before with the injury. It did not take him long to exit the game, as it only took his seven snaps before he was pulled out. Per Pelissero, he did not suffer any more damage to his hamstring on Sunday. Instead, he could feel it pulling. That was enough to end his Sunday early.
Hamstring injuries can be troublesome for athletes. Often, they tend to be lingering issues. If a player is rushed back, there is a significant chance of re-injury. It appears as if the Vikings do not want to risk that with their Pro Bowl wide-out.
On the season, Thielen has 27 receptions for 391 yards and six touchdowns. Against Kansas City, he did not reel in his lone target.
With Thielen probable to miss Sunday's game, the bulk of the targets will likely go Stefon Diggs' way. In addition, Bisi Johnson and Laquon Treadwell could see an uptick in snaps. Josh Doctson is also eligible to return from the injured reserve.
