Adam Thielen made the hour-and-half flight to Kansas City on Saturday, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver is officially questionable to play against the Chiefs on Sunday; he is nursing a hamstring injury suffered 13 days ago, in a win over the Detroit Lions.
Thielen will be a game-time decision on Sunday. According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, he will test his hamstring before the game. Ultimately, that will dictate whether or not he plays in the much-anticipated, (likely) Patrick Mahomes-less matchup. If he is out, Davion Davis is expected to be on the game roster.
If Thielen comes back, the Vikings will be able to field their best two wideouts — he and Stefon Diggs — for Sunday's matchup with a high-powered offense (no matter the quarterback) on Sunday.
“I think it’s nice having some skill players across the board at each position,” offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski said, via Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune. “Certainly those two guys, everybody knows, are two special football players. It allows you to balance the field out when they’re on either side, and I can imagine for defenses, you could try to take one away or you could try to take both away, but that’s where we have to have depth and we do.”
Thielen did not play in last Thursday's win over the Washington Redskins. Despite not doing so, he leads the NFL in touchdown receptions (six) and has amassed 27 receptions for 391 yards on the season.
