Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is seeking a new contract, but that won't stop him from participating in the Vikings' voluntary offseason program, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Cook is entering the final year of his current deal and is slated to make $1.3 million in 2020.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State, was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (41st pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He got off to a terrific start during his rookie campaign, rushing for 354 yards and a couple of touchdowns while averaging 4.8 yards per carry over his first four games before a torn ACL ended his season.

However, once again, when he was on the field, he was effective, recording 615 yards and a pair of scores while logging 4.6 yards per attempt. Also, he caught 40 passes for 305 yards, reaching the end zone twice as a receiver.
The Miami native then broke out this past season, playing in 14 games and racking up 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground, posting 4.5 yards per tote. In addition, he hauled in 53 receptions for 519 yards. Cook missed a couple of games due to a shoulder injury.
Due to the fact that Cook has a torn ACL in his rearview mirror and has never played a full 16-game campaign in three NFL seasons, the Vikings may have some pause about giving Cook a lucrative long-term deal.
That being said, there is no doubt that Cook is one of the league's most explosive halfbacks when he is right.
