Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray knows that winning is the most important aspect of his team trying to make it back to the playoffs.
The Vikings took another step forward toward the postseason with a convincing 27-9 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, which allowed Minnesota to stay in the No. 6 spot in the NFC.
However, with the Philadelphia Eagles scoring a comeback win over the Houston Texans, winning may still be a necessity for the Vikings in the Week 17 clash against the Chicago Bears.
So, with the postseason berth not official just yet, Murray understands that it wouldn't be ideal to rely on another team to get into the playoffs.
From Chris Tomasson of Pioneer Press:
“I just thought, look, to get in we’ve got to win, so why not win to get ourselves in and not depend on anybody else?” Minnesota running back Latavius Murray said of the Eagles winning. “We can’t depend on anyone, so we’ve just got to take care of business.”
Minnesota finds itself in a good spot entering the game with the Bears because it really is as simple as just going out and winning in order to make the postseason.
That will be easier said than done against a Chicago team that moved to 11-4 on the season after its 14-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
But with the Vikings seemingly turning a corner after the disappointing Monday Night Football showing against the Seattle Seahawks, Murray and company may be in great shape to clinch their playoff bid next week.
