Rumors swirled on Friday night that Trent Williams declined a trade to the Minnesota Vikings, but according to the former All-Pro that isn't true. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Williams had shutdown a trade, saying he didn't want to play for the Vikings.

“At some point over the course of today, Williams made it known he would rather not go to the Minnesota Vikings,” Rapoport said. “Essentially, that ended the trade right there.”

According to Williams though, he never nixed a trade to the Vikings.

“No, that's not true,” Trent Williams said via Charean Williams of ESPN.

After the comments from Williams, ESPN confirmed again that Williams was the one who nixed the deal. The Vikings and Redskins were discussing a deal for over a month, but it is all off the table now.

Even if Williams didn't say that and wants to play in Minnesota, it's hard to imagine they are going to swing a trade now. The Vikings selected Ezra Cleveland with the 58th overall pick to be an impact player for their offensive line. The big question now for Williams and the Redskins is will a deal ever get done?

As the draft has gone on, more potential suitors have fallen off as they selected positions of need. The San Francisco 49ers have been another team that has been connected to Williams. If Joe Staley decides to hang it up, it would make sense for the 49ers to trade for Williams. Maybe the Redskins will just decide to stick it to Williams and hold onto him.
