The New England Patriots were well aware of their void at left tackle heading into training camp. It appears head coach Bill Belichick is still hesitant to describe how things are looking up front at this point in the offseason.

Former first-round pick Isaiah Wynn is still working his way back from an Achilles injury he suffered last year during the preseason. According to Sean T. McGuire of the Patriots Wire, Belichick was not ready to comments on the state of the left tackle position:

“We have a lot of things that we need to work on, in every area of the team. So, I don’t think I feel good about anything right now,” Belichick said in regards to his feelings about the position. “I don’t feel necessarily bad about it (left tackle). We’ll see how it is.”

Belichick's comments should hardly come as any surprise considering how dismissive he has always been when addressing any of the team's potential shortcomings. Regardless, he feels uneasy with the whole situation.

New England was able to find temporary relief for Wynn by moving Trent Brown to left tackle last season. Unfortunately, they no longer have that luxury after he signed a lucrative deal with the Oakland Raiders in free agency. As a result, the Patriots have now been alternating between Dan Skipper and Cedrick Lang at left tackle to start training camp.

The left tackle position will likely continue to be a huge question mark for New England going into the 2019 NFL season.
