There's still no telling when or if Josh Gordon will be reinstated by the NFL. Any update on the wide receiver's status, Bill Belichick has made made abundantly clear, will not be coming from the New England Patriots.
Asked about Gordon's possible reinstatement during a press conference on Wednesday, Belichick answered in his typically succinct manner.
“That’ll be a league matter. Talk to them about it,” he said, per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper.
Gordon was suspended indefinitely in December for violating the terms of his reinstatement under the league’s substance abuse policy. He has a long history of mental health and addiction troubles, the former of which he alluded to as the reason he was “stepping away from the football field” in a statement thanking New England following news of his suspension.

“I don’t know anything [about when/if Gordon might be back] going into it. Like, legit. Like, I’ve asked 30 people inside the organization and outside of [it], like, ‘Do you know what’s going to happen?’ And no one knows not one thing,” he said, per Zack Cox of NESN. “So we’re just kind of sitting and waiting to see what the circumstances are going to be with him, because he’d be a really good tool to have. He balls.”
The former First Team All-Pro was traded to the Patriots from the Cleveland Browns in September of last season. In 11 games with New England, Gordon had 40 catches for 720 yards and three touchdowns.
