The Patriots and Steelers are facing off this upcoming Sunday at Heinz Field, and although the two teams usually have had close matchups over the years, the matchup record says otherwise.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the rivalry between the Patriots and Steelers has been very one-sided in favor of the Patriots.

“Belichick has won 11 of 14 games against the Steelers and seven of nine against Tomlin. Last year, the fundamental differences between New England’s and Pittsburgh’s approach to situational football became abundantly clear when the Steelers had more than three minutes during replay review of a potential game-winning touchdown to devise a sequence of plays if the score was overturned (it was), but the Steelers’ offense became confused and seemed woefully unprepared following the first play after the reversal ended.”

The Patriots and Steelers are both coming off very disappointing losses in Week 13, but nobody can count either team out based on all of the adversity each team has overcome. The Steelers need the win much more than New England does, however, a win for either team would be very beneficial. The Patriots would have to collapse immensely to lose their division, while Pittsburgh is only a half a game up over the Baltimore Ravens.

This week's matchup will be extremely tough for Pittsburgh as New England rarely loses numerous games in a row, so the odds are in their favor. Pittsburgh will need a huge game from their defense and mistake-free ball against a tough New England defense.
