The New England Patriots were able to annihilate the Los Angeles Chargers 45-0 in Weel 13 despite Cam Newton throwing for only 69 yards. In response to his lack of production through the air on Sunday, Newton doesn't seem content with how he performed in the passing game.

“It’s not the sexiest thing to see a quarterback throw for 69 yards,” Newton said during an interview on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show Tuesday morning, via Ryan Hannable of the same radio station. Like last week, Newton reiterated he’s all about winning.

Throughout the season, due to the lack of pass-catching weapons on offense, the Patriots have leaned on their rushing attack, which Newton is a prominent part of. While he had only 69 passing yards against the Chargers, Newton did have 48 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Altogether, the former NFL MVP has now rushed for 435 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns this season. However, Newton has now had back-to-back games wherein which he finished with fewer than 100 passing yards.

With that being said, New England has reeled off four wins in their past five games, with Newton throwing for fewer than 150 yards in three of them. The Patriots have a ton of work to do if they want to make the playoffs as they currently sit at 6-6 entering Week 14.

Following their lopsided win over the Chargers, the Patriots will have a quick turnaround as they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. Seeing that the Rams have scored 27 or more points in five games this season, New England may need more from Newton in the passing game this week.
