The New England Patriots came away from their matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday with what was their fourth consecutive loss. They are far from being the best team in the league at the moment, but as it turns out, superstar quarterback Cam Newton remains confident in the team's offense.
According to Newton, he firmly believes that New England's offense is just a few steps away from emerging as a potent threat in the league:
“But all in all, as an offense, I think we’re extremely close,” Cam Newton said, via Zack Cox of NESN. “If we just keep stacking bricks on top of bricks on top of bricks, then hopefully we can put a full 60 minutes together this weekend.”
Newton does make a bit of a point here. If anything, the one thing they can take away from Sunday's 24-21 defeat against the Bills is that it was encouraging. It was yet another loss, but at the very least, the Patriots showed some signs of life.
The same can be said about Newton's own performance. He hasn't exactly been in MVP form so far this season, but it does appear that he's getting there–somewhat.
New England will be back in action on Monday night against a winless New York Jets side. A win there could serve as a turning point for the Patriots' season. However, a defeat could also be an indication of where this season is headed for Newton and New England.
