If the New York Giants do ultimately decide to trade wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason, the New England Patriots could be one of the interested parties.

Fox Sports talk-show host Colin Cowherd thinks that a Beckham-Patriots marriage would make sense, citing Bill Belichick's tendency to miss out on drafting great receivers:

“I think this is real. Belichick has a hole [drafting wide receivers]…,” said Cowherd. “I don't think the pursuit is over and I don't think grabbing a dynamic playmaker for Tom Brady in his final years is a crazy thought.”

It definitely makes sense.

Tom Brady is 41 years old, and while he looks like he can play forever, at some point, he is going to decide to retire. So, if the Patriots want to keep contending for Super Bowls while Brady is still around, going after someone like Beckham might be a good idea.

Other than Randy Moss, Brady has never really thrown to an elite receiver. You can cite Wes Welker if you want to, but he was a slot receiver whom Brady made look better than he really was.

Yes, he had Josh Gordon for part of this season, but Gordon is several years removed from even playing a full season, and he was suspended for violating the league's drug policy yet again in December.

If Brady was able to win the Super Bowl with his lackluster options in the passing game this year, imagine what he can do with an elite wideout like Beckham?
