The New England Patriots are getting ready to face the Los Angeles Rams while suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon spends his time at an inpatient drug treatment facility, according to Doug Kyed of NESN. Gordon was suspended mid-season because of diluted drug samples that he provided during drug tests.
The Patriots are paying for the drug treatment and the NFL and NFLPA are both supporting Gordon as they try to help him with his drug addiction.
If the Patriots are to win the Super Bowl on Sunday, Gordon will receive a Super Bowl ring and there is still a chance that Gordon will return to the Patriots at some point.
Gordon has always been an exceptional talent on the field, but the problem has been keeping him there and not on the commissioners suspended list. Gordon caught 40 passes for 720 yards and three touchdowns with the Patriots this year before being suspended.
Article Continues BelowGordon has been in the league for seven years but has only played in 52 games and most of the time missed has been because of suspension.
The league has been quiet about how long this suspension will be and when he was first informed of the suspension there was talk that it could be permanent. With the Patriots staying in touch with the troubled wide receiver there must be at least some hope that he will be reinstated.
For now, the hope is that Gordon will have a successful treatment and he will be able to get his life back on track.
