We haven't seen the last of Josh Gordon. When the embattled receiver was suspended indefinitely by the league once again last season, it looked like his career might've been over. But the New England Patriots are intent on bringing the talented wideout back, and he's reportedly planning on applying for reinstatement soon.

The Patriots tendered him a contract, and now things have taken another step in the right direction.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, Gordon has officially signed his tender.

Yates does caution that this doesn't mean Gordon will for sure play in 2019, but that if he does it'll be with the Patriots.

For what it's worth ESPN's Adam Schefter followed up with a tweet of his own, saying Gordon “clearly intends to try to return.”

Gordon returned to the Browns toward the end of the 2017 season after two full years away from the game. He flashed a ton of promise, and hopes were high heading into 2018. After just one game, Gordon immediately had a falling out with Cleveland, and the team announced they would look to trade him.

They ended up sending him to New England for a fifth round pick, and he formed an instant connection with Tom Brady. In 11 games, Gordon had 720 yards and three touchdowns before he shockingly announced he was stepping away from the team. Not long after it was announced he was being suspended by the league again.

Gordon has always been high on talent but has been unable to stay out of trouble with the commissioner's office. With Rob Gronkowski retiring and Chris Hogan leaving in free agency, New England's group of pass-catchers is as thin as its ever been.

They could really use Gordon in 2019, and we should all hope Gordon gets all of his issues off the field sorted out.
