The New England Patriots have made a commitment to addressing social justice issues amidst the social unrest in the United States. In a statement released by the organization (via Patriots.com), the Patriots announced what they did this past season in that regard and what they plan to do moving forward.

In the statement, New England revealed that they, as a team, met every Monday to continue the social justice discourse that they started during the summer. They added that they sought out the help and support of different organizations from various fields and expertise to give them more education and guidance on these issues.

The franchise, earlier in July 2020, pledged $1 million for these causes. The team announced that they did just that. They raised over half a million dollars that they will distribute to eight New England-based organizations through the Players' Social Justice Fund over the next weeks.

The amount was also matched by team owner Robert Kraft, thus putting the sum to a million dollars. They also donated their excess collections to the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless.

Finally, the Patriots ended their statement with a commitment to continue what they are doing and more. They will take advantage of their platform to help raise awareness and be advocates for change as they seek to end racism and bigotry that has corrupted the country.

This is definitely a wonderful cause for the Patriots. The team announced this unwavering commitment to fight for social justice through a powerful 1-minute video they released back in June.
