The New England Patriots aren't committed to a kicker for the 2020 season and they could be bringing in a familiar face. According to The Athletic's Jeff Howe, the Patriots are hosting veteran kicker Nick Folk for a visit.

Early in the 2019 season, Stephen Gostkowski, New England's longtime kicker, suffered a hip injury. In the first four games of the season, Gostkowski would convert seven of his eight field goal attempts.

At the same time, he would miss four of his extra-point tries to begin the season. However, his hip injury would require surgery and cause him to miss the rest of the season. Following his bid to injured reserve, the Patriots were forced to bring in multiple kickers to fill in for Gostkowski. One of those kickers was Folk.

After having Mike Nugent as their placekicker, New England elected to go elsewhere at the position. Throughout his short stay with the Patriots, Nugent made just five of his eight field goal attempts. On the other hand, Folk would take over for the final seven weeks of the regular season.

And while Folk wasn't automatic, he made a respectable 14 of his 17 field goal attempts for the Patriots. Furthermore, he would  proceed to make both of his field goal tries in New England's lone postseason contest.

Back in April, the Patriots selected Justin Rohrwasser in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. His addition came just one month after New England released Gostkowski after having him hold the position for 14 seasons. Even though the team used one of their draft picks on Rohrwasser, they could bring Folk back into the mix.
