Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay is the cream of the crop of the young coaches in the NFL but in the Super Bowl, he was outcoached by one of the best coaches all time, Bill Belichick.
While the Rams had problems making adjustments during the game, the Patriots and Belichick made some big adjustments, especially in the fourth quarter and that led to the Patriots winning their sixth Super Bowl.
After the game, Sean McVay told the media via The Athletic that he thinks the adjustments that the Patriots make is what makes them so special.
Article Continues Below“They definitely changed it up with what they had done over the past couple of weeks, especially when you look at some of the things that enabled them to have success against the Chargers and against the Chiefs. They still played some front structures that we anticipated and they did an excellent job with it.”
“Their coverage principles were definitely mixed compared to what they put on tape. They did a great job, and it is something that I’m disappointed that I didn’t do a better job of adjusting in the framework of the game. That is one of the things that makes them great.”
The biggest question for the Rams and McVay was their usage of Todd Gurley.
Gurley said after the game that he felt fine and if the knee really wasn't bothering him there have to be questions about why the team didn't use one of the best running backs in the league.
