Antonio Brown is now a member of the New England Patriots, but expecting him to produce right away after having virtually no time to learn the playbook is probably asking a bit too much.

Tom Brady understands that it will be a learning process for Brown, and it doesn't seem like he is anticipating that the wide receiver will contribute right off the bat.

“That’s definitely a challenge, that’s just the time of the year and we are going to deal with those from now to the end of the season,” Brady told Jim Gray of Westwood One. “We are just going to deal with those the best way we can. You’d love to have a training camp or an offseason to learn, but that’s just not our reality and we are going to do the best we can possibly do with the time that we have.”

Of course, Brown spent the entire offseason as a member of the Oakland Raiders after being traded to the Raiders from the Pittsburgh Steelers back in March, but things did not exactly click for Brown in Oakland, which led to him asking for his release last week.

He then signed with the Patriots almost instantly.

Brady says he will do whatever he can to make Brown feel comfortable in his new surroundings.

“Yeah, you know we’re going to meet as much as we possibly can,” Brady said. “I think that quarterback-receiver relationship is so important. The more you know each other the more you know what each other’s thinking, the faster you can accelerate the trust and confidence in one another when you get on the field.”

New England got off to a 1-0 start without Brown on Monday night, beating his former Steelers team by a score of 33-3. The Pats will head on the road to take on the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
