The New England Patriots' decision to release Antonio Brown was surprising yet understandable. The off-the-field controversies easily outweighed any positives he could bring to the team. Tom Brady, however, felt conflicted about how the entire thing went down.

Phil Perry talked to the six-time Super Bowl winner about his thoughts on the entire fiasco.

Brady is an understandably quiet person and doesn't want to divulge his personal opinions. However, it's obvious with the tone of his statement that he was disappointed with the Patriots' decision to let Brown walk.

The Patriots released a short statement on September 20 saying that the controversial wide receiver is no longer a part of their franchise.

“The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”

The Patriots apparently felt Brown crossed the line when his text messages to one of his accusers surfaced to the public. As much as they highly rated his talent, they felt that the controversy he's currently in is not worth the hassle they will experience in the future.

Antonio Brown has since announced through his Twitter profile that he will no longer be playing in the NFL.

The wideout is also planning to file a labor case against the Patriots for withholding the $15 million contract after releasing him from the team.

It's unfortunate that Brown's off-field scandals have derailed from his on-field production. He impressed in his only appearance for the Patriots, making four catches for 56 yards and a receiving touchdown.
